Saddam Hussein's trial adjourned until Monday

BAGHDAD, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The trial of the ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and six of his co-defendants has adjourned until Monday after hearing testimony from two Kurdish witnesses on Thursday.

Saddam, his cousin Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as "Chemical Ali, " and five former commanders face charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity for their role in Anfal (Spoils of War) operation in 1988, which the chief prosecutor said left some 182,000 people dead or missing.

During Thursday's session, the Kurdish witnesses recounted alleged atrocities committed against them nearly two decades ago.
