Hamas announces new round of talks on forming coalition government
GAZA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas)
announced on Sunday a new round of talks over forming a coalition
government.
The talks will begin within the coming days, Hamas spokesman Sami
Abu Zuhri said, adding that the decision to open the dialogue was a
result of an agreement between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
and Prime Minister Ismail Haneya.
Abbas and Haneya agreed on Thursday on forming a national unity
government to replace incumbent Hamas-led one in a bid to get out of
the current economic and political crisis. One day later, Haneya
outlined three conditions for a coalition government.
