Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya to vaccinate 3 million children
NAIROBI, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia will
vaccinate nearly 3 million children against polio in a bid to stamp
out the paralyzing disease, which has re-emerged in the Horn of
Africa, the World Health Organization said on Friday.
The vaccination campaign, which will run Sept. 9 to 12, should be
followed by two more in November and December in high-risk areas
around the borders between the three states.
"Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya will simultaneously vaccinate
millions of children under five years of age from Sept. 9 to 12 in
the largest-ever synchronized vaccination campaign in the Horn of
