Japan's Lower House of Diet approves defense agency upgrade bill
TOKYO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- A bill raised by the Japanese
government to upgrade the Defense Agency into a ministry passed the
Lower House on Thursday afternoon as anticipated with the force of a
majority enjoyed by the ruling coalition of the Liberal Democratic
Party and the New Komeito party, and the main opposition Democratic
Party of Japan.
The bill, the first of its kind by the government, was approved at
a lower house plenary session after clearing the Security Committee
