Court upholds life sentence for former DK leader
PHNOM PENH, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's appeal court here on
Tuesday upheld the life sentence for a former Democratic Kampuchea
(DK) commander for murdering three Western backpackers in 1994.
Appeal court judge Um Sarith insisted on a 2002 lower court
decision that 73-year-old DK leader Sam Bith was guilty of
masterminding the abduction and murders of Australian David Wilson
and Briton Mark Slater and Frenchman Jean-Michel Braquet.
