Water level of Yangtze River hits record low
NANCHANG, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The water level in the middle
reaches of China's longest river, the Yangtze, hit a record low on
Tuesday, said local hydrology authorities.
The water level of the Jiujiang section of the river in east
China's Jiangxi province was 8.53 meters, 1.87 meters lower than
normal for the time of year and was falling at a rate of five to ten
centimeters each day, said the Jiujiang Hydrology Bureau.
