Heavy rain, snowfall paralyze traffic in southern Jordan
AMMAN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Intermittent heavy rains and snowfall
in recent days paralyzed the traffic in southern Jordan with hundreds
of people being stranded and many roads being closed, local media
reported on Thursday.
More than 300 passengers were trapped in buses and cars on the
road between Petra, famous ancient city of Jordan, and the village of
Uzruh to the west of Maan city, 220 km to the south of Amman, the
report said.
Witnesses said the police was directing vehicles to an alternative
road "which was not in a better condition."
