Over 1,400 rescued from storm-struck southern Jordan
AMMAN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian civil defense teams and armed
forces on Thursday rescued more than 1,400 persons who had been
stranded for more than 24 hours in southern Jordan by a rare
snowstorm in the country, local media reported.
"Our teams have rescued a total of 1,421 trapped people including
tourists," an official of Jordan's Civil Defense Department Awad
Masaeed was quoted as saying, adding that eight people were slightly
injured in the storm.
