China calls for new order in international mineral products market

BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan on Tuesday called for the establishment of a new order in the international mineral products market.

There should be more dialogue between the producers and consumers of mineral products. Monopoly of prices must be opposed in favor of fair trading to satisfy demand, Zeng told the China international mining conference in Beijing.

As an emerging major consumer of oil, iron, copper and other mineral products, China has been trying to obtain greater influence in the price-setting process, though little progress has been made so far.
