Tanzania announces measures against Rift Valley Fever

DAR ES SALAAM, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- The government of Tanzania has announced stern measures against the spread of the Rift Valley Fever disease which has so far claimed the lives of two Tanzanians and one Kenyan in the country.

Local press on Thursday reported a third Rift Valley Fever- related death, a Kenyan who died in the Kilimanjaro region while visiting Tanzania. But the deceased was not identified.

The measures include banning livestock movement to and from neighboring Kenya and scrutinizing all livestock meant for human consumption.
