Swiss voters reject health insurance reform proposal

GENEVA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- An overwhelming majority of Swiss voters on Sunday threw out a proposal for a single health insurance company in their country, which they say are only good for the wealthy.

Final results of Sunday's ballots showed 71 percent of voters rejected the reform. Turnout was close to 46 percent, slightly above average, Swiss Radio International reported.

Interior Minister Pascal Couchepin said a majority appeared to be opposed to "a revolution" in the health sector but wanted to continue the reforms under discussion in parliament.
