WHO endorses global appeal to end discrimination against people affected with leprosy

MANILA, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region branch Monday endorsed a global appeal to highlight the plight of people affected by leprosy, calling on people around the world to end stigma and discrimination against people affected by the age-old scourge.

Jean-Marc Olive, WHO representative in the Philippines, endorsed the appeal on behalf of Shigeru Omi, WHO regional director for the Western Pacific, at an international forum held in Manila.
