Guangdong grabs regular-season title with one round to go

BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Guangdong Hongyuan defeated Jilin Northeast Tigers 111-88 Sunday at home to grab the regular-season title for the fourth consecutive time at the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

Guangdong, seeking their fourth straight league championship, collected 54 points from 25 wins and four losses, one point ahead of Bayi Fubang, who beat Shannxi Hans 117-87 at home.

Bayi split the home-and-away match-ups against Guangdong but a disadvantage of points difference leaves it no chance to overtake the leader in the last round on Wednesday.
