Flights cancelled due to storm on U.S. East Coast

NEW YORK, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of flights to and from the U.S. East Coast were canceled on Thursday night and Friday because of a harsh winter storm.

JetBlue, the discount airline already battered by a recent storm, canceled 15 flights on Thursday evening and 215 more on Friday morning, which accounted for about a third of all JetBlue flights, company spokesman Sebastian White said.

Of the cancellations, more than 200 flights were in or out of New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

"We've strategically cancelled flights so we have pilots and crews in place to restart operations when the storm passes," White said.
