Zambian government urged cautious to re-negotiate on mine agreements

LUSAKA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government must be cautious when it re-negotiates agreements with mining firms because bungling the process might lead to loss of confidence by foreign investors in the country's business environment, the country's business community said here on Thursday.

"We are advising the government to take a diplomatic stance when re-negotiating these agreements with the mines," Mwila Imakando, president of the Economic Association of Zambia (EAZ), an economic think-tank, told journalists.
