France calls for immediate release of three Afghan hostages

PARIS, May 21 (Xinhua) -- France on Monday called for the " immediate release" of the three Afghans who work for the French aid agency Terre d'Enfance (A World for Our Children), who are still held hostage by the Talibans.

It was one of the priority areas for the new French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner, the foreign ministry spokesman Jean- Baptiste Mattei said during a regular press briefing.

"We reiterate our call for the immediate release of these three hostages," the spokesman said.

"Perfect continuity is ensured in dealing with this matter," he added.
