Cote d'Ivoire to compensate toxic waste victims

ABIDJAN, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Cote d'Ivoire's office of the president Friday published the compensation details for the victims of the toxic waste which was dumped near Abidjan in August 2006.

In February 2007, Cote d'Ivoire signed a memorandum of understanding with Trafigura, in which the company which owned the toxic waste accepted to pay 100 billion CFA francs (about 205 million U.S. dollars) to settle the matter.
