Armed bank robber killed in Budapest

BUDAPEST, May 4 (Xinhua) -- One bank robber and hostage taker was shot dead, but two hostages were shot and hurt on Friday afternoon when police special forces entered a Budapest's OTP bank where the robber had been holding hostages.

The police move came at 5:30 p.m. local time, after they threw in a series of smoke bombs. This followed a two-hour siege, after a bank robber carrying an AK-47 assault rifle entered the facility, disarmed the security guard and took 8 hostages.
