Los Angeles launches campaign to recycle plastic bags

LOS ANGELES, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles on Thursday launched the city's first plastic bag recycling campaign, urging all retail and grocery stores to recycle plastic bags.

The campaign coincided with the introduction of a new law in California that takes effect on Sunday. The law limits the use and littering of plastic bags and enforces the recycling of used bags.

Bins will be placed inside stores to encourage shoppers to recycle plastic bags. Some grocery stores are also giving away reusable cloth bags to shoppers.
