KFC, McDonald's workers set up trade unions in Shanghai, Liaoning

SHANGHAI, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Employees have set up trade union branches at all KFC and McDonald's outlets in Shanghai, the city's Trade Union Federation announced Friday.

More than 90 percent of KFC's 12,000 employees working in 200 chain stores had volunteered to join the union since the first branch was founded in 1999, said a federation statement.

All 5,049 employees at 80 McDonald's outlets had become union members since 2005 when workers set up the first branch.
