Hong Kong's retail sales value increases 15.8 pct

HONG KONG, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The total of retail sales value in Hong Kong surged to 19.6 billion HK dollars (2.5 billion U.S. dollars), up 15.8 percent compared with the same month of last year, according to official figures released Thursday.

After netting out the effect of price changes over the same period, the volume of total retail sales rose 13 percent, the Census and Statistics Department of Hong Kong said.
