A New book with East Riding in its title caught local historian
Martin Craven's attention when he was in a Hull shop.
Anticipation turned to amazement when he opened it. The first
pages were devoted to photographs of Tadcaster, which has never been
in the East Riding, past or present.
Subsequent perusal of the book showed it also included pictures
of Barwick in Elmet, Sherburn in Elmet, Staithes and Aberford - none
of them in the East Riding. Excellent photographs, but an inaccurate
title.
East Riding people often feel upstaged by the county's other two
Ridings, north and west, and we complain our attractions are
unfairly overlooked.
