Prime Minister Gordon Brown was last night accused of "caring
little" for troops who put their lives on the line after it emerged
the lowest ranks will be hardest hit by a major shake-up in income
tax.
A third of the armed forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan will
pay up to pounds90-a-year more into Treasury coffers as a result of
the changes which hand tax cuts to higher earners.
The revelation was last night branded a "disgraceful way to
reward our armed forces".
