Article: Maroth set for elbow surgery; Sheffield back on disabled list

Detroit Tigers left-hander Mike Maroth is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery today to remove bone chips from his left elbow.

The 28-year-old Maroth has been dealing with elbow problems since April but hadn't missed a regular-season start until Tuesday, when Roman Colon took his place in the Tigers' 11-6 loss to the New York Yankees.

Maroth is 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA and 22 strikeouts in nine starts this season, his fourth with the Tigers.
