The Yakima Food Bank plans to launch a capital campaign this month to raise money to buy a new building.

The non-profit organ-ization is hoping to move into a new -- and larger -- space by the end of August.

Clarence Gipson, manager of the food bank, has his eyes on a building in the 200 block of South Second Street. It costs $225,000.

The all-volunteer food bank has asked the city of Yakima for a $130,000 grant and is also trying to raise matching funds on its own. The food bank plans to seek donations to help cover the cost of the building as well as the expense of outfitting it with large- scale freezing and cooling facilities.
