Exeter councillors have ridiculed Devon's proposal for a new
super-council, saying they would leave thousands of people in the
city with little elected representation.
They attacked Devon's proposals to create a unitary county while
unveiling their own plans for Exeter at a meeting of the council's
executive last night.
As the Echo has already revealed, officers and councillors at the
city authority want to expand its boundaries to include outlying
areas like Exminster or Broadclyst so the council keeps an urban
focus.
Areas included would be defined as places where people travel to
work in Exeter and use the city for all their leisure needs.
