That women are an inferior and unworthy species in the context of
both their secular existence and their spiritual existence is the
only conclusion to be drawn from the decision of the Church in Wales
to recommend that the authority and piety of the bishops should not
be tainted by the admission into their exulted circle of mere
females.
The biblical precedent of patriarchy, as represented by God,
Jesus Christ and his disciples, is often quoted as the reason for
denying women their spiritual autonomy, but the gospels have always
been interpreted in such a way as to favour the agenda of the
interpreters themselves, with anyone being able to cite scripture
for any purpose he sees fit.
