Woman cited in Wal-Mart theft

Police said she tried to hide clothes, food, cosmetics in trash can that she bought. A woman tried to hide about $121 worth of stolen goods in a trash can when she went through check-out at the East Lampeter Township Wal- Mart store, police said.

The plan didn't work, and the woman ended up being charged with retail theft, police said.

Police said Kelly Marie Weinhold, 24, of 170 S. Eastland Drive, picked up a plastic kitchen-size trash can at the 2034 Lincoln Highway East store on Wednesday and filled it with various merchandise that included clothing, food items, and cosmetics.

Before heading to the cashier, the woman had an employee tape the lid on the trash can, police said.
