A HANDMADE cheese produced on a family farm has been chosen by a
national pub chain for use on its burgers.
The cheeses, produced by Shepherds Purse, based near Thirsk,
North Yorkshire, have already been served at Wimbledon and are
enjoyed by customers of a major airline.
Its Yorkshire Blue cheese will now top burgers and be used on
ploughman's lunches in the 94 Slug and Lettuce wine bars across the
UK.
It follows the signing of a [pounds]100,000 contract with the
wine bar's parent company, Bay Restaurant Group.
The deal is the latest success for the cheese, which in December
won the Gold Award in the Caterer Group's Excellence in Food and
Drink Awards.
