Election recounts kept the county clerk and two municipal clerks
busy this past week, but the exercise didn't change any results.
Racine County Board
Jim Kaplan was reconfirmed as the new 4th District County Board
supervisor after a recount Wednesday.
On election night, Kaplan won out over Supervisor Kenneth Lumpkin
by two votes, 220-218. After the recount, Kaplan lost one vote,
narrowing the margin of his victory to one vote.
"People cannot say that one vote doesn't make a difference,"
County Clerk Joan Rennert said after the recount.
It took Rennert and the Board of Canvassers about three hours to
complete the recount.
