POPULATION: 2,776,138 inhabitants, according to 2001 census.
AREA: 202 square kilometers
OLYMPIC FIGURES
The polo team won Argentina's first ever Olympic medal at the
Paris Games in 1924.
Pugilist Victor Avendano won Argentina's first ever individual
Olympic gold in the Amsterdam Games 1928.
The first gold medal after 52 years was won by the men's soccer
team coached by Marcelo Bielsa during the Athens Games 2004.
