U.S. serviceman denies killing taxi driver with intent

TOKYO, April 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Navy serviceman Olatunboson Ugbogu on Friday denied killing or robbing a taxi driver with intent at a court hearing, said reports from the southeast Japanese port city of Yokohama.

The suspect, however, confessed to stabbing a taxi driver last month in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, during the hearing at the Yokohama District Court.

As Ugbogu told his lawyer that he had been ordered to stab someone, the lawyer suggested that mental competency examination be conducted on his client to see if he is suffering any psychiatric disorder.
