Few things test the modern marriage as much as housework.
It wasn't much of an issue for us when my wife was at home with
three children under five and I worked all hours to keep the money
coming in. The housework just didn't get done.
But now we have more discretionary time and my wife has a part-
time job, the issue is once again on the table.
This suggests some negotiation is taking place, but really it's
just a question of me doing more around the house -- under
supervision.
To be truthful, the issue has come up before. At Christmas, a
brother-in-law inadvertently made me look bad by his devotion to his
family and household duties.
