Eu membership becomes more important for Britain with each
succeeding treaty, of which the Lisbon Treaty is but the latest.
Generally, the aim and effect of each treaty is to increase the
power of EU institutions and reduce that of individual member
states. There is an ever-increasing urge for EU members to do
things together in a similar way.
Whether these important developments are good or bad for our
country depends on facts, not opinions. But your letter pages are
filled with opinions from those who dislike the EU, like UKIP
members, or those who like it, such as Mr Baker (letter, April 1).
