Article: Manhattan Beach City Council sets curfew for meetings

It's 10:30 p.m.: Do you know where your Manhattan Beach City Council members are?

Under a resolution passed this week, they should be headed home - at least on the first and third Tuesday nights of the month.

The loquacious panel on Tuesday unanimously imposed a curfew on its twice-monthly meetings, deciding that any general business items or public hearings not brought up by 10:30 p.m. will be rolled to the next session.

A four-fifths majority vote could extend discussion later than the deadline, they also decided.

"The purpose of this resolution is so we're not making decisions at midnight, 1 o'clock in the morning," Mayor Jim Aldinger said.
