No progress has been made at an Exeter prison since its last
inspection and some areas of its work have deteriorated, according
to a new report.
Hmp Exeter, on the city's New North Road, was described by Anne
Owers, chief inspector of prisons, as having failed to make any
progress and she said its resettlement work had, in fact,
deteriorated. The findings are part of the publication of a short,
unannounced follow-up inspection of South West prisons.
Exeter Prison was found to be largely safe and inspectors said
there were effective race relations, foreign nationals and legal
services work, and that healthcare was good and improving. But the
