U.S. anti-ballistic missile defense system a waste of money: expert

WASHINGTON, April 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. anti-ballistic missile defense system has resulted in a waste of hundreds of billions of dollars, a former weapons tester said in a document released Wednesday.

Philip Coyle, the Pentagon's assistant secretary for arms testing from 1994 to 2001, said the missile defense system, which he described as mostly useless, is the "most difficult development the Pentagon has ever attempted."
