FEELING a little down, stressed-out or depressed?
Don't despair grab a duster and get stuck into those household
chores. According to experts, doing just 20 minutes of housework
every week is enough to boost mental health and put a springclean in
your step.
Scientists from University College London examined the views of
20,000 men and women questioned for the Scottish Health Survey about
their state of mind and how much weekly physical activity they took
part in.
More than 3000 participants were deemed to be suffering from
stress and/or anxiety. Those who did vigorous housework once a week
were 20-per cent less likely to suffer from mental health problems.
