Home professional Chris Gill broke the course record at Exeter Golf & Country Club during an eventful pro-am on Tuesday.

The event was the first pro-am on the Devon PGA's 2008 calendar and was also the first ever ladies' pro-am at Exeter.

But it was former Asian Tour player Gill who stole the show, hitting a brilliant round of 62 - although Robin Goodey's (Exeter Powakaddy) 63 would have been good enough to earn him victory on any other day.

In a distant third was Downes Crediton's Barry Austin, whose 69 seemed like a good score until the other two players reached the clubhouse.

Gill was delighted with his score as he has been working hard on improving his putting over the last few weeks. ...
