MILLERSBURG -- With just one loss between them, the Holmes County
baseball showdown between visiting Hiland and unbeaten West Holmes
shaped up to be one of the best in the longtime rivalry Friday.
That's exactly how it played out -- for the final half inning --
as the Hawks sweated out a 6-4 victory.
Hiland (11-1) was in complete control for the first 6 1/2 innings
in building a 6-0 lead. The Hawks scored five runs in the first
inning off of losing pitcher Zac Mathie, while senior lefthander
Tony Yoder carried a no-hitter into the seventh.
