Article: Morris, Pirates pounded again

Pirates pitcher Matt Morris believed -- really, truly believed -- his outing Monday night against the Florida Marlins would be different than his previous starts this season.

"I had a lot of faith in today, a lot of positive thoughts about letting go of the past," Morris said.

The past, however, will not let go of him.

Morris was strafed -- again -- as the Marlins romped to a 10-4 victory.

Morris (0-3) heaved 99 pitches and labored through four innings. He gave up eight runs -- swelling his already inflated ERA to 9.15 - - on nine hits and a walk.

"That's possibly one of the worst games I've ever pitched," Morris said. "And it's magnified because of the situation I'm in."
