Ann Alyanak's Olympic run ended before Beijing, but she showed
she has a future as an elite marathoner.
"It was a relief when I crossed the finish line, and I was
pleased, too. I don't think I could have done much else," the 29-
year-old said. "Hopefully, I still have better years ahead of me."
Alyanak ran a personal-best 2 hours, 34 minutes, 46 seconds for
seventh in the U.S. Olympic Trials marathon Sunday, April 20, in
Boston.
The top three women -- favorite and 2004 Olympic bronze medalist
Deena Kastor (2:29.35), Magdalena Lewy Boulet (2:30.19) and Blake
Russell (2:32.40) -- comprise the U.S. Olympic team headed to China.
Kastor is 35, Lewy Boulet 34 and Russell 32.
