Article: Books will tell story of slain Army Ranger Pat Tillman

Since Pat Tillman was killed in a chaotic barrage of gunfire on a hillside in Afghanistan four years ago, the Leland High School graduate and Arizona Cardinals pro football player has been portrayed as larger than life.

Now that image is getting even larger. Two books will be published chronicling the life and death of the square-jawed, philosophical Army Ranger who gave up a multimillion-dollar NFL contract to serve his country. One is by his San Jose mother and the other by author and adventurer Jon Krakauer, who wrote "Into Thin Air" and "Into the Wild," two bestsellers made into movies.
