If crab-eating contests and pirate pet parades seem like funny
ways to celebrate our maritime heritage, they sure are. That's why
the Maryland Maritime Heritage Festival is worth a trip or two or
three. For three days, from tomorrow through Sunday, all day long,
Annapolis's newly renovated City Dock will be transformed into a
party, an entertainment stage, an educational center, and a
playground for kids and grown-ups to celebrate life in Annapolis and
life along the Chesapeake Bay.
This year's festival coincides with Annapolis Alive, a year-long
celebration of Annapolis's 300-year-old city charter, which brings
along with it some activities for the history buffs out there such
