AS THE HEAD of MI6, Sir Richard Dearlove prided himself on
discretion. In his new role as Master of Pembroke College,
Cambridge, he has, however, broken cover - and in a most surprising
way.
Mandrake hears that Sir Richard, a close confidant of Tony
Blair, provided an eyebrow-raising review of his previous job to an
audience of students celebrating their graduation. Introducing
himself, he told them: "I'm sorry I haven't met all of you before
but I've been busy running the country."
The former head of the country's international spy network added:
"I'm quite lucky to be here as I'm supposed to be organising a few
assassinations."
