If you believe the hype, "Grand Theft Auto IV" is this year's
holy grail of gaming.
And for fans of the crime-based action series, the latest
installment -- available for Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's
Xbox 360 for $59.99 -- is also the greatest:
It looks good, plays better than its predecessors and offers a
new level of realism in the "Grand Theft Auto" universe.
Liberty City, the 3D virtual metropolis where the story and
action unfold, is colossal, gritty and organic.
The cars, often the stars in the "Grand Theft Auto" games, are
fast and furious and fun to drive.
And Niko Bellic, a thuggish Eastern European immigrant with a
dark past, is an interesting and unexpected main character ...
