LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With horses generally making fewer starts before the Kentucky Derby, it's important to use all information available when attempting to select a winner, even information not generated during a race.

For instance, one trend I have noticed is that horses that run late in races, "closers," should be given extra credit when they work out at top speed.

This workout trend has helped me land on Colonel John as my selection to win this year's Kentucky Derby.
