Article: Shortstop Izturis a real glove child: Defensive whiz hopes to find home after trade to Cubs

Cesar Izturis could be bitter toward the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He isn't.

Izturis' team of four-plus seasons traded him to the Cubs on Monday for pitcher Greg Maddux, sending him far away from his half- brother, Maicer, an infielder with the Los Angeles Angels.

"[Maicer] was happy for me," Izturis said. "He knows this was good for my career."

The Dodgers switched Izturis from shortstop -- the position at which he won a Gold Glove in 2004 -- to second base and then to third, partly because he was recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. Izturis was asked to play the outfield, too.

"I said no because I never played it," Izturis said. "Outfield? I don't think so."
