GLENDALE - Pardeep Singh impressed his friends as a sharply dressed man with a penchant for flashy cars and expensive watches.

Described as charming and soft-spoken, he constantly exhorted his friends to do the right thing. And, he always picked up the tab at dinner.

Now, some of Singh's friends suspect he was picking their pockets too.

"He was so slick and smooth. He seemed like such a nice guy," said Kenneth Yandoli of Glendale. "He was scheming us from the beginning; I could lose my house now."
