Rick Davis easily won the Democratic primary for Vanderburgh
County treasurer Tuesday night in a matchup of two public servants
who had never run for political office before and whose campaign
styles were very different.
Davis defeated Steve Millay 20,011 to 12,341, according to
unofficial final results.
The two ran because Democratic Treasurer Z Tuley was barred by
law from seeking a third term.
Davis, a 39-year-old former Courier & Press assistant metro
editor and reporter, has been chief deputy recorder since 2002. He
ran a grass-roots, door-to-door campaign while Millay, a 61-year-
old retired banker and former police officer, focused more on
newspaper
